Pheebs Reveiws – Beacuse of Winn-Dixie

26 Aug

Hey everyone! 🙂 I promised the GWL (Glasgow Woman’s Library. ) I’d do a review of the (FAB) book they lent me, Because Of Winn-Dixie. I finished it just now and this is what I thought of it:

Because Of Winn-Dixie is a powerful, tense, joyful book with very loveable characters inside it’s pages. The main girl, (India) Opal is at an age where she is trying to understand all of the things older people struggle with but, as an innocent child, the things she says, are both touching, and fun to read.

The dog, Winn-Dixie, is very funny and cute. You can literally see him when the page says, ‘He shows all his teeth’. I love this dog and he could easily be read and you wished you could hug him right out of the pages.

Opal’s father is The Preacher. He’s a very stern man but loves his daughter. You can tell their relationship is strong but distant at the same time. Since Opal’s story is strong, the Preacher just adds more ground to the story.

(it’s my 1st EVER review so, please don’t shout.)
